Coldplay gave a 12-year-old Mexican boy named Huillo a moment he will never forget when they invited him onstage to sing at their concert in Mexico City. But this wasn’t just any performance—there’s an emotional story behind it.

When Huillo was just six years old, his father took him to a Coldplay concert in Mexico. During the song “Fix You,” the young boy, who has autism, was so overwhelmed with emotion that he started crying. His father recorded the moment, and the video quickly spread online, touching thousands of hearts—including the band’s.

Fast forward six years, and Coldplay was back in Mexico City, performing at the massive Foro Sol stadium, which holds 65,000 people. Before bringing Huillo onstage, frontman Chris Martin spoke to the crowd about the viral video.

“That video was the best video we’ve ever seen,” Martin said. “It meant more to us than any music video we’ve ever made.”

Then, to everyone’s surprise, he invited Huillo to join them onstage to perform his own song, “Different is OK.”

Martin introduced Huillo as “a very special young man” and explained how he uses music to understand the world, emotions, and people. “We heard one of his songs this week and asked him to come and sing it with us,” he said.

As soon as Huillo stepped onto the stage, the crowd erupted into cheers and started chanting his name. Despite the massive audience, he remained calm and confident. Sitting at the piano, he played and sang lead vocals while Coldplay performed a beautiful acoustic arrangement of his song.

“Different is OK” carries a powerful message about building meaningful relationships and celebrating differences. The audience was completely captivated, and the performance quickly became a viral sensation.

Huillo’s journey with music began after he was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at the age of four. His parents soon realized that music, especially Coldplay’s songs, had a special effect on him. That’s why his father brought him to that first concert years ago. When the video of his emotional reaction spread online, Coldplay themselves responded, saying, “It’s worth it for things like this.”

Over the years, the band and Huillo’s family stayed in touch. During that time, Huillo began taking music lessons as a way to connect with others and express himself. It wasn’t long before his parents noticed his natural talent for songwriting.

Music lovers flooded the comments section of the concert video with messages of support. One person wrote, “As a 42-year-old man, I cried just like Huillo did six years ago. Thank you, guys.” Another fan shared, “Thank you Coldplay, Huillo, and his family for making us believe in humanity in these difficult times.”
