Sitting on the interview couch on Little Big Shots Australia, with her guitar resting on her lap, 12-year-old Li-sa-X chatted with host Shane Jacobson about her love for music. The adorable young guitarist from Japan won over the audience as she shared that she had been playing guitar for six years, dreamed of joining a band when she grew up, and absolutely loved ACDC. When she played a short piece of Back In Black by ACDC, the crowd was amazed—but that was just the beginning.
Under cool blue stage lights, Li-sa-X stepped up with her guitar in hand. The audience had no idea they were about to witness something truly jaw-dropping. As she started playing, her fingers moved so fast across the guitar fretboard that it was hard to believe she was just a kid. She performed an incredible shred guitar solo that sounded like it came straight from a professional metal guitarist. When the video hit the internet, it quickly went viral, racking up over 1 million views. One excited fan commented, “I can’t believe my eyes and ears!! Pure genius.”
Since appearing on Little Big Shots, Li-sa-X has made her dream come true. She formed her own band called the Li-sa-X Band and played as the lead guitarist until they split in 2022. But she didn’t stop there! Now, at 19 years old, Li-sa-X is part of an exciting new band called Koiai. The band features Kotono on vocals, Hazuki on bass, Kanade Sato on drums, and, of course, Li-sa-X shredding on guitar. Koiai has been making a big impact in the Japanese metal scene.
Just last week, Koiai released their latest music video for the song Come See Me, and it’s already getting tons of attention with over 50,000 views. The video features the band rocking out against a dark and moody background, and as expected, Li-sa-X delivers a mind-blowing guitar solo. Fans of Music Man will be thrilled to see that her skills have only gotten better over the years.
Here at Notes Like These, we love discovering young musical talents. But what we love even more is seeing those talents grow, chase their dreams, and succeed. Li-sa-X did exactly that—she kept improving her guitar skills and made her dream of being in a band come true. With Koiai becoming more and more popular in the Japanese rock world, it’s exciting to think about what incredible things Li-sa-X will do next.
