Opera superstar Andrea Bocelli is known for performing with his children on some of the most famous stages in the world. But one performance stood out from the rest: when he invited his 25-year-old son Matteo and 10-year-old daughter Virginia to join him on stage for a special family rendition of their song, “The Greatest Gift.” The heartwarming performance quickly went viral, racking up over 3 million views so far!
The performance starts with Matteo Bocelli, who has been called “one of the fastest rising stars in the classical crossover genre.” With his smooth voice and striking looks, he sings the opening verse with tenderness. Andrea then takes over, singing in his legendary operatic voice, which is as powerful as ever.
Virginia, the youngest of the trio, adds her angelic voice to the song, delivering beautiful harmonies. Some fans wished her microphone volume was higher compared to her dad and brother, but her sweet contribution still shines through. As the song builds, Andrea’s incredible operatic flourishes take center stage. His voice, bold and dramatic, is a sharp but perfect contrast to Matteo’s softer, silkier tone. Together, their voices blend beautifully, creating pure musical magic.
For Andrea, this performance was much more relaxed than his usual grand events. Instead of wearing his classic suit, he performed in a hoodie—but his casual outfit didn’t take away from the emotional power of the moment.
This isn’t the first time Andrea has shared the stage with his children. Earlier this year, he and Matteo performed the iconic “Time to Say Goodbye” as a moving tribute during the Memoriam section at the 96th Academy Awards. Matteo’s musical journey began back in 2018 when Andrea gave him the chance to duet on the song “Fall On Me,” featured on Andrea’s 2013 album, Passione. That duet launched Matteo’s career and showed the world the incredible talent running in the Bocelli family.
This performance of “The Greatest Gift” also gave fans a rare opportunity to see Virginia in the spotlight. She first joined her father and brother on their 2022 Christmas album, “A Family Christmas.” The album features this original track alongside festive favorites like “Away in a Manger,” John Lennon’s “Happy Christmas (War Is Over),” and “Feliz Navidad.” In their own words, the Bocelli family said, “Singing these songs together and feeling the holiday warmth as a family is something truly special. That’s what Christmas is about—making memories together to cherish forever.”
Andrea released his first holiday album, “My Christmas,” as a solo project back in 2009, but this family-focused Christmas album brings a whole new level of warmth and togetherness to his holiday music.
