In 2019, ADEM Show stepped onto the stage of America’s Got Talent with a huge challenge ahead of them. The toughest judge, Simon Cowell, was in a terrible mood—worse than usual. At the start of the show, he was already fed up with the performances. Looking unimpressed, he told one unlucky act, “When it’s not as good as what we’ve seen before, I just can’t get excited.” To another act, he sighed, “Way too generic. You’ve got to do something better than what’s been done before.”
That meant ADEM Show had to deliver something truly original—something that would wow the judges and stand out from everything seen in the past fourteen seasons of the show. That was no easy task.
As they walked onto the stage, their intense presence was impossible to ignore. Dressed in costumes inspired by the video game Mortal Kombat, they looked like warriors ready for battle. The audience and judges watched curiously, but instead of introducing themselves, ADEM Show remained silent. This made Cowell even more intrigued, his eyes narrowing with interest.
Then, the performance began. A sharp sound of electricity crackled through the speakers. The dancers suddenly jolted, as if they were being brought to life by the electric shocks. Cowell, who had been slumped in his chair, immediately straightened up, his boredom replaced with shock. The fast-paced electronic music kicked in, and the group exploded into perfectly synchronized robotic movements. Their dancing was so precise, so otherworldly, that judge Julianne Hough sat with her mouth wide open in disbelief.
But that was just the beginning.
Suddenly, they transitioned into jaw-dropping contortion moves. Arms twisted unnaturally. Joints popped in and out in ways that didn’t seem humanly possible. Heads moved as if they had been cleanly severed from their bodies. Judge Gabrielle Union let out a horrified, “Oh!” as she watched, torn between awe and fear. Then, one dancer took things even further—grabbing his ankles, he twisted his entire torso around in an impossible motion.
Backstage, host Terry Crews let out a loud squeal and turned away, unable to handle what he was seeing.
The grand finale took the performance to an even crazier level. One of the dancers acted as if he had been struck down, but instead of falling, he leaned back… further… and further… balancing on just one leg. It looked like he had completely defied the laws of physics. The entire audience gasped, unable to believe what they were seeing. Then, in perfect synchronization, the group snapped back into formation as if they had been electrified once more, returning to their original positions.
The performance ended, and for a split second, there was silence. Then—BOOM! The crowd erupted, screaming, clapping, cheering. The energy in the room was electric. Every single judge jumped to their feet in applause.
The group finally removed their masks, revealing their faces. They were real people—although, after the superhuman moves they had just done, it seemed impossible!
Julianne Hough, still breathless, tried to speak, but the audience wouldn’t stop screaming. When she finally got her chance, she shouted, “What you guys created on stage was freakin’ amazing!” The audience roared in agreement.
Then came the moment of truth—Simon Cowell’s verdict. Would he be impressed?
He looked at them, a rare smile creeping onto his face. “I always like to see something I haven’t seen before,” he admitted, his voice filled with genuine respect. It was clear—his bad mood had completely disappeared.
And then, it happened.
Four YES votes! ADEM Show was officially through to the next round!
Their performance was unforgettable, and the proof was in the numbers—over 45 million people watched their video on YouTube.
