Meet Miguel Montalban, an incredible guitarist from Santiago, Chile. Not only is he a fantastic musician, but he’s also a composer and songwriter. Many have called him “one of the greatest young guitarists around,” and once you hear him play, you’ll understand why!
One day, Miguel was busking at Oxford Circus in London, right outside the subway entrance. He started playing a stunning fingerstyle version of “Sultans of Swing,” and something magical happened—the entire street stopped to watch. The crowd was mesmerized by his skill. A passerby filmed his jaw-dropping performance and uploaded it to YouTube. The video, lasting nine and a half minutes, spread like wildfire. Guitarists around the world watched in amazement, blown away by his talent.
Miguel is best known for his mind-blowing guitar solos. His YouTube channel has over 107,000 subscribers and is filled with viral videos. One of his most famous performances is his cover of Queen’s legendary song, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” In the video, he plays the lead guitar part beautifully, right there on the streets, proving once again that his talent is truly extraordinary.
Back in 2015, Miguel released two albums—”Inspirations Vol.1″ and “Vol.2.” They were a massive success, selling over 20,000 copies in just a few years! His incredible skills haven’t gone unnoticed. He’s been recognized by some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Mark Knopfler, the legendary Dire Straits guitarist, who said, “This guy is totally excellent… he has that ‘Sultan’s ear’ and uses his talent to be an even better Dire Soldier!”
But it’s not just musicians who have taken notice. Huge international brands have also recognized his talent. Miguel has been sponsored by major companies like Gibson Guitars, Carlino Guitars in the USA, Olympus Custom Guitars in Australia, and Grover Allman in Australia. In fact, he even got his very own signature custom guitar! In one of his most popular videos, he plays Pink Floyd’s classic song “Wish You Were Here” at the Gibson showrooms. The video was sponsored by Gibson itself as part of a campaign to showcase their incredible guitars.
With all the praise from industry professionals and some of the biggest brands in music supporting him, Miguel has continued to build an impressive career. His journey as an electric guitar maestro is far from over—there’s no doubt we’ll be hearing even more from him in the future.
He started his YouTube channel on August 6, 2013, and since then, his videos have been viewed more than 25 million times! One of his must-watch performances is his street cover of “Cocaine” by JJ Cale, where he once again shows why he’s one of the best in the game.
