Miley Cyrus is mostly known as a pop star, with big hits like ‘Flowers’ and ‘Wrecking Ball.’ But if you listen closely, you can hear a bit of country music in her songs too. This isn’t too surprising, since her dad is none other than country legend Billy Ray Cyrus.
Maybe that’s why she gave such an amazing performance of the country/bluegrass song ‘Man of Constant Sorrow’ back in 2018 at the American Institute event. The video of her performance has now been watched over 8 million times online!
Miley sang the song as part of a special event honoring actor George Clooney, who was receiving the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. The song was originally performed by Clooney’s character in the 2000 movie ‘Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?’—a scene that has become one of the most famous moments in modern film history. Miley did an incredible job, bringing a new kind of power and energy to the song with her strong, country-style voice.
The audience that night absolutely loved it! When she finished, people cheered and clapped loudly. George Clooney himself was grinning from ear to ear and clapping enthusiastically as Miley waved at him.
