Back in 2010 and 2011, Peter Kay went on his record-breaking tour, “The Tour That Didn’t Tour”, and gave fans some of the funniest moments they had ever seen. One part of his show had everyone in stitches – his famous misheard lyrics routine!
The whole idea behind this sketch was simple but brilliant. Peter showed how easy it is to hear lyrics in songs the wrong way and just assume that’s what they actually are. Then, when you finally see the real lyrics – maybe at a karaoke night – you realize, “Wait… I’ve been singing it wrong this whole time?!”
Some of the best misheard lyrics from Peter’s routine include:
🎤 Take That – Instead of “I guess now it’s time, that you came back for good,” people heard “Wash your back!” in Back for Good.
🎤 Sister Sledge – Their song We Are Family has the lyrics “Just let me state for the record,” but some people misheard it as “Staple the vicar!” (Imagine actually singing that!)
🎤 Michael Jackson – In You Are Not Alone, he sings “Your burdens I will bear,” but Peter joked that it sounded like “Your burgers are the best!”
These hilarious misheard lyrics had audiences crying with laughter.
