When Daryl Hall invited Kenny Loggins to jam out to “Footloose” at his place, magic filled the room! Hall, best known as one half of Hall & Oates, has a long-running series where he brings musicians to his home studio for live sessions. But this May 2024 session? It might just be the best one yet! Loggins, 76, and Hall, 78, were rocking out like a couple of kids in a garage band, their faces lighting up with huge grins as they played.

The energy in the room was contagious! Anyone watching will probably find themselves smiling too. Loggins absolutely nailed the lead vocals, while Hall and his band backed him up with some seriously smooth harmonies. And the band? They were on fire, laying down a funky, loose groove that made it impossible not to move. That signature jangly guitar riff from Loggins and Hall? Pure perfection.

Thanks for sharing, Daryl.”

Daryl Hall has been sharing these incredible live sessions through his series, Live From Daryl’s House, bringing in all kinds of big-name artists. For those who don’t know, Kenny Loggins originally released “Footloose” on January 11, 1984. It was the lead single from the Kevin Bacon movie of the same name. Loggins co-wrote the song with Dean Pitchford and co-produced it with Lee DeCarlo. Fun fact: “Footloose” wasn’t Loggins’ only song for the movie—he also recorded “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man).”

While Loggins had already built a strong career with album releases, “Footloose” turned him into a true hitmaker. The song shot to number one in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, eventually earning Platinum certification in the US and a massive three-times Platinum in the UK!
